Dr. Ryan Sobel
Ryan Sobel, M.D., is a specialist in the treatment of vaginitis. He founded the Center for Vaginal Health based in the Trinity Building in lower Manhattan.
Dr. Sobel has 16 years of clinical experience as an obstetrician and gynecologist at teaching hospitals in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. He has also had faculty appointments at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also a member of both the National Vulvodynia Association and the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease.
He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he graduated with high distinction. He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
He did a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was appointed chief resident. While at Temple, he won five teaching awards, including the prestigious Berlex Award.
For many years, Sobel has been mentored by two of the world's most widely recognized specialists in the field of vulvovaginal conditions. First, his father, Jack Sobel, M.D., professor of Internal Medicine and Chief of Infectious Diseases at Wayne State University School of Medicine/Detroit Medical Center, where he directs the Vulvovaginitis Clinic. His other mentor, Paul Nyirjesy, M.D., is an obstetrician and gynecologist, who directs the Vaginitis Center at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Ryan Sobel was born in South Africa and was raised in both Israel and the U.S. He is fluent in both English and Hebrew.
